Trivia: I first met its editor, Kathryn Olmstead, as part of a high school writing contest across all of Aroostook County, Maine. I didn't win the contest, but my classmate Deanna did! But Kathryn encouraged me to revise and resubmit. I finally got in.

A few years later, Kathryn became my college adviser at UMaine. Even though I was pursuing journalism at the time, she recommended I check out Poets & Writers magazine, which I never did until much, much later, because I didn't want to be a poet. I was clueless.
